What Nelsonsys does — in plain language
Nelsonsys is a consulting practice that works with founders, leadership teams, and growing organisations across New Zealand on three connected problems: strategic direction, operational performance, and large-scale organisational change. We are not a full-service management consulting firm. We are a deliberately small practice — which means you work directly with a senior consultant from the first conversation to the final deliverable, not a partner who hands you to a junior team after the pitch. Our clients tend to be businesses between $5M and $50M in revenue that have reached a stage where the informal approaches that got them here are starting to create friction, and where the decision-making is consequential enough to warrant outside perspective grounded in real sector experience. We operate out of Hamilton and take on clients across the Waikato, Auckland, and Wellington regions, with remote-first engagements available for clients elsewhere in New Zealand.
How we work — and what we will not promise you
Every Nelsonsys engagement starts with a diagnostic phase that we scope before we propose anything. We don't quote for work we haven't understood. We've completed more than sixty engagements since 2018 across sectors including manufacturing, professional services, health, food and beverage, and technology. Our approach is direct: we name what we see, including the things that are uncomfortable, and we don't dress findings in language designed to soften the message or extend the engagement. What we won't promise is a specific revenue outcome or a guaranteed timeline — consulting advice is a direct input to your decisions, and results depend on how that advice is applied, how consistently leadership holds the direction, and how quickly market conditions allow execution. We are honest about this from the first conversation, and we think that honesty is one of the reasons our clients tend to return. We do not do IT implementation, recruitment, accounting, legal advisory, or any form of outsourced management — those are distinct disciplines and we refer clients to specialists when those needs arise.
